Favorite MCU Movie Rankings Pt. 2

Last week I put out the bottom half of my favorite Marvel Cinematic Universe movies and here is the second half with some of my favorite movies in general! The best of the best the MCU has to offer. So here are numbers 9 through 1!

Guardians Vol2#9 Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is easily one of the funnier movies in the franchise. The funniest movie is next on my list but this movie is just a whole load of fun and see each of the characters all grow in significant ways the one place this movie falters a little compared to the original is that the movie slows down quite a bit in the middle, but nonetheless this movie is an incredibly fun time going on another adventure with the Guardians.

Thor3#8 Thor Ragnarok

As mentioned in my last entry Thor Ragnarok is by far the funniest movie in the MCU sometimes to its detriment though. There are few moments where a dramatic moment gets undercut by a poorly timed joke but its still funny as hell. Taika Waititi was the perfect director to reinvent Thor and not only did he make Thor interesting but also saw him being paired up with the Hulk and getting to see them work together is awesome and Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie is a welcomed addition! Lastly music and the soundtrack are used really well here to highlight the action scenes. Also, Jeff Goldblum as the Grandmaster pure gold!

IM1#7 Iron Man

The movie that started it all, it introduced us to the MCU and set the tone for what would define the MCU for the next 10 years which is amazing. Iron Man is one of the best superhero movies out there. It’s a concise and tightly told story that makes you really get behind the character of Tony Stark through excellent character development and performance by Downey Jr. The effects and visuals still hold up incredibly well even after 10 years and it’s just a blast to see Iron Man kick ass for the first time in Gulmira with the Mk III suit, still one of my favorite scenes in the series!

Guardians Vol1#6 Guardians of the Galaxy

Guardians of the Galaxy honestly took me and everyone by surprise at how good it was. With James Gunn’s quirky humor sprinkled in there and a bunch lovable A-hole characters it’s hard not to like this movie. You can’t talk about Guardians without mentioning it’s soundtrack and use of classic pop songs incorporated into the movie via Starlord’s Awesome-Mix tapes that pretty much set a trend of copycats for the next few years, that leaves you feeling happy at the end!

#5 Spider-Man HomecomingSpidey HC

Spider-Man Homecoming was a movie I was dying to get ever since the MCU became a thing. I may be a bit biased as Spider-Man is my all-time favorite superhero, but this movie does a masterful job of working him into the MCU. This is the definitive portrayal of Peter Parker and Tom Holland cannot be praised enough. Michael Keaton as The Vulture is one of the best villains, a deep character with real motivations and legitimately threatening. Definitely worth a spot in the top 5 for me!

#4 Captain America The Winter SoldierCA TWS

The Winter Soldier is the gold standard for what a superhero movie should be and considered by many to be the best in the franchise but number 4 for me. This movie is perfect in almost every way. Great story, good character development, and incredible villains. Also, oh my god, the action and fight choreography in this movie is off the charts! Watching The Winter Soldier and Cap go at it hand to hand is so exhilarating. It really doesn’t get much better than this but there are three more that were even more amazing to me.

#3 Black Pantherblack pnather

The newest entry to the MCU Black Panther is in my opinion the best solo movie in the MCU. This movie has amazing visual spectacles like the awe-inspiring city of Wakanda, it’s advanced technology, costume design and action sequences. However, what really set this movie apart is its extremely well written story and more importantly the social and ethical commentary of racial equality, isolationism, nationalism and colonialism it tells through the MCU’s best villain, Erik Killmonger as well as some of the best female characters in movies.

The avengers#2 The Avengers

The movie that changed the movie industry forever and cemented the MCU as a cultural phenomenon. The Avengers did what most thought was impossible, bring the crossover team up event from the comics to the big screen and man did it succeed better than anyone had ever thought. There is just so much to love about this movie from the tight story-telling to all the insanely fun interactions between all the characters that had appeared in separate movies up until now. Every character has their awesome moment to shine and nothing compares to the first time you see them come together!

#1 Captain America Civil War

At #1 we have Civil War! This to me is the best MCU movie. Heart pounding action, exciting story, great characters, emotional weight, and fun moments. This movie does so Civil Warmuch and does it amazingly. The Russo Brothers do a great job of focusing on the main struggle of ideology behind how the Avengers should be governed and the progressing both Tony and Steve’s character development. More importantly though this movie has high stakes and weight that many of the other movies don’t have it really makes you the viewer really think about the ethics and morality of being a superhero in this universe and the beauty of it is that you could easily make a compelling case for either side which makes this movie all the more interesting to watch. This movie is a bit more dramatic but don’t get me wrong it’s still fun as hell. With the debut of both Spider-Man and Black Panther into the MCU and the epic Airport Showdown between Team Iron Man and Team Cap, this movie is the best the MCU has to offer!

So that’s it my current rankings of all 18 Marvel Cinematic Universe movies! It truly has been an incredible decade of amazing movies and jump up and down exciting moments and I for one can’t wait for what Kevin Feige and the folks at Marvel Studios has in store for the future! Avengers Infinity War is around the corner and I honestly can’t contain my myself waiting for that movie! It could easily dethrone Civil War as my favorite movie in the MCU! We still have so much to look forward to like seeing Wasp in Ant-Man and the Wasp or Captain Marvel in her own movie. With the recent purchase of Fox Studios we may even get to finally see the X-Men and the Fantastic Four join the MCU some day! What a time to be alive! Check out Part 1 where go over 18-10. Hope you guys enjoyed my rankings! Let me know which ones your favorites are! See ya later!
